We are Mike & Kathy Carmichael, Baby Brooke (our human puppy born 12/28/05), 20+Siberian Huskies, 2 rangey Alaskan Huskies, and one lifestyle consumed by the antics of these crazy dogs! Our castle is here in Avon, Utah in beautiful Cache Valley, where we are about 20 minutes from miles and miles of training trails, and less than 8 hours from a number of good dog show venues. We are fortunate enough to have a few bald eagles here in the Spring and Fall months when they find it most fun to fish in our little river that runs through our 8 acres.

We started showing Siberians about 15 years ago when we acquired our very first Husky, Tango. Tango was of course an unruly 'spaz' of a puppy and we found that in order to keep him happy and content, we had to hold one virtue close to our hearts and minds: RUNNING IS GOOD.

We began skijoring (that's cross-country skiing with a little dog power) and soon we were bitten by the bug that is dog powered sports. From skijoring we advanced to rollerblading, then mountain biking, and finally we got our first sled. It seemed as though anything that we could duck tape ourselves to and travel across the ground at unreasonable amounts of speed was prey to our insatiable appetite for running our dogs. Tango of course grew old and decided that was best left to the youngsters - he has since earned is CGC and CD, plus the title of most spoiled Husky in the Carmichael household. Every kennel has a name that somehow symbolizes their efforts with their dogs. Whether it's first-dog names, tribal translations of mountain ranges or rivers, or some other meaningful characterization of the kennel, a kennel name (we think) should summarize what it's all about. So Carmacks is not just a clever play on our name 'Carmichael', it symbolizes ourtraining%20run%20022.jpg goal for our dogs. Along the Yukon Trail in the Yukon Territory, there is a small town called Carmacks. We have always been drawn to this little town not only because it's so close to our name, but because it has a great tradition in the 'other' 1,000 mile race in North America, the Yukon Quest. The goal for our kennel is to have a team of Carmacks Siberians cross the checkpoint at Carmacks during the running of the Yukon Quest.
